Sports and hiking are among the greatest allurements which attract Czechs and foreigners alike to Lake Lipno and its surroundings.
The Lipno Dam and the hillsides of Šumava offer to tourists sporting enjoyment in any season of the year:
- Summer is the symbol of swimming, scuba diving, windsurfing, yachting, and many other water sports.
- Spring and fall is fancied by fishermen, hikers and cyclists, sightseeing fans etc.
- In winter, skiers and snowboarders of all ages can enjoy themselves in the Lipno ski centre Kramolín.

We arranged for you as a part of our hotel services Sports rental where you can find both summer and winter sports equipment.
You can find there the latest models of trekking or mountain bicycles, bicycles for children and the appropriate equipment as helmets and bicycle carriages for babies. There are also in-lines and winter equipment as downhill or cross-country ski sets, snowboards, snow-bicycles and snow scooters at your disposal.
You can use the Lipno Centrum sport rental where there is a 15% discount for each Wellness Hotel Frymburk guest. Detail information including prices on Pricelist of Sports rental.

Outdoor sports aktivities
Lake Lipno and its surroundings have a great potential for sporting enjoyment. You will find several sports equipment rentals and sports centres here. On both banks of the dam, there are hiking tracks suitable for both hiking and cycling trips. The lake can be crossed from one bank to the other by using one of the three ferries. Moreover, you can extend your walks through the countryside by visiting the neighbouring Austria where you can get by crossing one of the six border checkpoints.
Water sports
Swimming: he Lipno Dam and its pure, 23°C warm water is ideal for swimming. The water expanse is surrounded by numerous beaches. On some of them, you will find attractions not only for children. If you are more of a swimming pool fan, you will certainly be satisfied with the waterpark in Frymburk.
Yachting and Windsurfing: Lake Lipno, thanks to its large expanse, is suitable for sailing sailboats and surfing; the conditions are similar to a sea. Equipment rentals for these sports and sports instructors can be found in Frymburk (sailboats rental), Lipno nad Vltavou (windsurfing rental and school), and in Černá v Pošumaví (yachting, windsurfing).
Kiteboarding: Have you ever flown a kite on water? In Černá v Pošumaví, you can try out the extreme sport called kiteboarding. Let yourself be dragged by a kite on a board across the surface of Lipno.
Aquaskipping: In Černá v Pošumaví, you can have a shot at another extraordinary sport - aquaskipping. You ride a special type of watercraft by your own force across the water surface; if you stop, the watercraft starts sinking.
Seacycles: You can go for a ride on seacycles on almost any beach of Lake Lipno, for instance, in Horní Planá or in Lipno nad Vltavou.
Small boats: Small boats, motorboats, and sailboats can be rented for example in Lipno nad Vltavou, Černá v Pošumaví, or in Vyšší Brod.
Fishing:The Lipno region is often labelled as a “Fisherman’s paradise“. The Lipno fishing ranges include standing waters as well as the upper Vltava. It provides you with opportunities to engage in the classic style of fishing as well as the fly fishing technique.

You can enjoy winter diversions in the ski centre in Lipno nad Vltavou. The large premises offers to its visitors everything one can think of. Variously difficult downhill courses, maintained cross-country tracks, a snow park and a children’s winter playground (a short course with a ski tow, snow tubing, a carousel). A ski school, rental service, and refreshment stand are also at disposal. Cross-country skiers will also enjoy themselves in the surroundings of Černá v Pošumaví.
Ice skating
You can indulge yourself in ice skating on the frozen surface of Lake Lipno. If you prefer skating in an arena, head for Český Krumlov.
